Why is it that little kids find the grossest things fascinating? I guess they are little sponges after all, and don’t mind what they learn about as long as it’s fun!
This may be a post I will trot out for Pumpkin’s 21st birthday…
Here are some things that Pumpkin is into at the moment:
- The toilet. Oh, it’s a fascinating place, no question. She loves to come and join me – and gets quite interested in what’s going on under there!! Don’t worry – no pictures for that one!
- Insects. Little black flying ones. Whether they are in the bath (we seem to get them coming in from either the exhaust fan or the window, not sure which), or floating in her little bucket in the garden, there’s nothing more enjoyable apparently than plucking them out and eating them. Savouring every mouthful…mmmm.
- Rubbish bins. Who said things should only go in? Why not take them out? I have found Pumpkin sucking on a used ear bud – eeewww, I am shuddering as I write. Note to self – get lidded bins stat. Fortunately the kitchen and nappy bins are lidded. She can open them, but can’t get herself coordinated to actually reach in at the same time, as the lids are quite heavy.
That’s about all I can think of at the moment. My older brother as a toddler used to go into the garden and eat snails. He’d wander into the house with slime running down his chin, in a favourite family legend.
Naturally I was a saint and never stirred from where I sat docilely on a white silken cushion, with beautifully brushed hair and a frilly skirt. Naturally.
Guess this is why books like Dirty Bertie and Whose Poo and The Story of the Mole Who Knew it was None of His Business and stories about underpants are so popular!
What gross things are your gorgeous darlings into at the moment?
